Spatial Connect Limited, trading as Spatial Split ("we", "us", "our", "the Company"), operates the Spatial Split mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal data when you use our App, in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

4. INFORMATION WE COLLECT
4.1 Account Information
- Name and email address (from Google/Apple Sign-In)
- Profile photo (optional)
- Payment method identifiers (e.g., Venmo username, PayPal email) - NOT payment credentials
4.2 Expense Data
- Expense descriptions, amounts, dates, and categories
- Receipt images you upload
- Split calculations and settlement records
- Group memberships and friend connections
4.3 Technical Data
- Device type, operating system, and unique device identifiers
- IP address and approximate location (country level)
- App usage patterns and preferences
- Crash reports and performance data
- Push notification tokens (for delivering notifications to your device)
4.4 AI Processing Data
When you use receipt scanning or Quick Add features, the following is sent to third-party AI providers:
- Receipt images (to Google Gemini for text extraction)
- Natural language text prompts you enter
4.5 Sensitive Information
Please do NOT include sensitive, confidential, or proprietary information in expense descriptions, notes, or receipt images. While we implement security measures, you are responsible for the content you submit.
4.6 Device Contacts (Optional)
If you grant contacts permission, we access:
- Contact names, email addresses, and phone numbers from your device
This data is stored locally on your device to suggest friends you may know. Contact emails may be checked against our user database to identify existing users. We do not upload your full contact list to our servers.
5. HOW WE USE YOUR DATA
We use your data to:
- Provide expense tracking and splitting functionality
- Process receipt images using AI-powered text recognition
- Sync your data across devices
- Send notifications about settlements and group activity
- Display advertisements (via Google Mobile Ads) if enabled
- Improve App performance and user experience
- Detect and prevent fraud or abuse
- Comply with legal obligations
6. DATA SHARING AND THIRD PARTIES
We share data with:
6.1 Other Users
- Friends and group members you connect with can see shared expense data
- Share links for temporary ("ghost") accounts display summary information publicly: your name, the recipient's name, expense count, and balance totals per currency. Individual expense details are not shown on public pages. If the recipient claims their account, their email address becomes visible on the share link page.
6.2 Service Providers
- Google Firebase: Authentication, database, storage, analytics, performance monitoring
- Google Gemini: Receipt image processing and text parsing (images and prompts sent to their API)
- Google Mobile Ads: Advertising services, if enabled (subject to Google's privacy policy)
6.3 Product Analytics (Firebase Analytics)
We use Firebase Analytics to understand how users interact with our App and improve the experience. Firebase Analytics data is processed by Google in compliance with GDPR.
What we collect via Firebase Analytics:
- App usage patterns (screens visited, features used)
- Feature engagement metrics (e.g., expense creation method, group usage)
- Technical information (device type, app version, platform)
- Aggregated engagement data (not individual transaction amounts)
What we DO NOT collect:
- Exact expense amounts (only bucketed ranges like "10-50" for analytics)
- Names of friends or contacts
- Receipt images or their contents
- Session recordings or screen captures
Legal basis: Legitimate interest in improving our product and user experience.
Your rights: You can request deletion of your analytics data by contacting us. Analytics data is used solely for product improvement and is never sold to third parties.
6.4 Legal Requirements

6.5 "Do Not Sell My Personal Information" (California Residents)
We do NOT sell your personal data to third parties, and we have not sold personal data in the preceding 12 months. Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), California residents have the right to opt out of the sale of their personal information. Since we do not sell personal data, no opt-out mechanism is required, but you may contact us at hello@spatialconnect.app with any questions.
7. INTERNATIONAL DATA TRANSFERS
Your data may be transferred to and processed in countries outside the UK, including the United States (where our service providers operate). We ensure appropriate safeguards through Standard Contractual Clauses or adequacy decisions.
8. DATA RETENTION
- Account data: Retained while your account is active
- Expense data: Retained until you delete it or your account
- Receipt images: Deleted when the associated expense is deleted
- Analytics data: Retained for up to 14 months (Firebase standard)
- Upon account deletion: Personal data deleted immediately; anonymised expense records retained for up to 2 years for other users' financial records, then permanently deleted
9. YOUR RIGHTS (UK GDPR)
You have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of your personal data (CSV export available in Settings)
- Rectification: Correct inaccurate data
- Erasure: Delete your account and associated data
- Data Portability: Export your data (CSV export available in Settings)
- Restriction: Limit how we process your data
- Object: Object to processing based on legitimate interests
- Withdraw Consent: Withdraw consent at any time for consent-based processing

10. DATA SECURITY
We implement appropriate technical measures including:
- Encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS)
- Encryption at rest (Firebase-managed)
- Firebase App Check to verify legitimate app installations
- Optional biometric authentication (processed locally on your device only)
11. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
The App is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16. If we become aware of such collection, we will delete the data promptly.
12. COOKIES AND LOCAL STORAGE
The App uses local storage to:
- Maintain your authentication session
- Cache data for offline access
- Store your preferences
On web platforms, Firebase Analytics uses cookies to collect usage data as described in Section 6.3 (Product Analytics).
13. ADVERTISING
We may display advertisements via Google Mobile Ads. If enabled, Google may collect device identifiers and usage data to serve personalised ads. You can opt out of personalised advertising in your device settings.
On iOS, we will request App Tracking Transparency permission to enable personalised ads.
14. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Material changes will be notified through the App. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

PLEASE READ THESE TERMS CAREFULLY. BY USING SPATIAL SPLIT, YOU AGREE TO BE BOUND BY THESE TERMS, INCLUDING THE BINDING ARBITRATION CLAUSE AND CLASS ACTION WAIVER IN SECTION 14.
1. ACCEPTANCE OF TERMS
By downloading, accessing, or using Spatial Split ("the App"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms") with Spatial Connect Limited ("we", "us", "our", "the Company"). If you do not agree, do not use the App.

2. DESCRIPTION OF SERVICE
Spatial Split is an expense tracking and splitting application that enables users to:
- Record and categorise expenses
- Split costs among friends and groups
- Scan receipts using AI-powered image recognition
- Track balances and settlements
- Export expense data
The App is provided on an "as is" basis and may include advertisements.
2.1 IMPORTANT DISCLAIMERS
Spatial Split is a tool for tracking shared expenses. It is NOT a financial service, payment processor, or debt collection service.
• Debts and balances shown in the App are informal records only and are NOT legally binding.
• We do NOT process payments, handle cash, or transfer money between users.
• We do NOT guarantee payment between users.
• Users are solely responsible for verifying expense accuracy and settling payments outside the App.
• Always verify payment details before sending money to anyone.
• Please do NOT include any sensitive, confidential, or proprietary information in expense descriptions, notes, or receipt images.
3. ELIGIBILITY
You must be at least 16 years old to use this App. By using the App, you represent that you meet this requirement.
4. USER ACCOUNTS
4.1 You must create an account via Google or Apple Sign-In to use the App.
4.2 You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
4.3 You must provide accurate information and keep it updated.
4.4 You are responsible for all activity under your account.
4.5 Notify us immediately of any unauthorised access.
5. ACCEPTABLE USE
You agree NOT to:
- Use the App for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to access other users' accounts without authorisation
- Upload malicious code, viruses, or harmful content
- Interfere with the App's functionality or security
- Circumvent rate limits or usage restrictions
- Use automated systems to access the App without permission
- Harass, abuse, or harm other users
- Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent expense data
- Violate any applicable laws or regulations
6. USER CONTENT
6.1 You retain ownership of content you submit (expenses, receipts, notes).
6.2 By submitting content, you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free licence to use, store, process, and display that content solely to provide the service.
6.3 You are solely responsible for the accuracy of expense data you enter.
6.4 You represent that you have the right to submit any content you upload.
7. AI AND AUTOMATED FEATURES
7.1 Receipt scanning and Quick Add features use third-party AI services (Google Gemini).
7.2 AI-generated results may contain errors. You are responsible for reviewing and verifying all AI-processed data before use.
7.3 AI features are subject to usage limits
7.4 We make no guarantees about AI accuracy, availability, or suitability.
8. TEMPORARY ACCOUNTS ("GHOST ACCOUNTS")
8.1 You may create temporary accounts for people who have not yet signed up. By creating a temporary account for another person, you represent and warrant that you have their permission to do so and to share their information (including name and expense data) with other users.
8.2 Temporary accounts can be claimed by the intended person using a claim code or claim link.
8.3 If you delete your account, temporary accounts you created will also be deleted.
8.4 Share links for temporary accounts may be publicly accessible.
8.5 CLAIM CODE AND LINK SECURITY: Claim codes and claim links enable the recipient to claim the temporary account and access all associated expense data. Do NOT share claim codes or links publicly, post them on social media, or send them to unintended recipients. You are solely responsible for ensuring claim codes and links reach only the intended person.
8.6 ACCOUNT CLAIM FINALITY: Once a temporary account is claimed, all associated expense data is permanently transferred to the claiming user. This action cannot be reversed.
8.7 CLAIM SECURITY DISCLAIMER: We implement security measures to protect claim codes and links, but we do not guarantee their security against unauthorised access, interception, or breach. You acknowledge that claim codes and links may be compromised through no fault of either party, including through hacking, data breaches, or other security incidents. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any data exposure, loss, or damages resulting from unauthorised claims, regardless of how the claim code or link was obtained by the claimant.
8.8 USER RESPONSIBILITY: You are solely responsible for safeguarding claim codes and links you create or receive. If you share a claim code or link with an unintended recipient, you bear sole responsibility for any resulting data exposure.
9. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
9.1 The App, including its design, features, and functionality, is owned by Spatial Connect Limited and protected by intellectual property laws.
9.2 You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or create derivative works without our written permission.
9.3 "Spatial Split" and associated logos are our trademarks.
10. PRIVACY AND ANALYTICS
Your use of the App is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
By using Spatial Split, you agree that we may collect anonymised usage data to improve our service. This includes feature usage patterns, error reports, and performance metrics. We do not sell this data to third parties. For details, see our Privacy Policy.
11. DISCLAIMERS
11.1 THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
11.2 We do not guarantee the App will be error-free, uninterrupted, or secure.
11.3 EXPENSE DATA IS INFORMAL: All expense records, balances, and debt calculations in the App are informal records for convenience only. They are NOT legally binding documents and should NOT be relied upon as proof of debt or obligation.
11.4 NO PAYMENT PROCESSING: We do NOT process payments, handle cash, or facilitate money transfers. Any payments between users occur entirely outside the App. Verify all payment details before sending money.
11.5 We are not responsible for disputes between users regarding expenses, balances, or settlements.
11.6 We do not provide financial, legal, or tax advice.
11.7 We cannot guarantee the accuracy of user-entered information. You are responsible for verifying all expense data.
11.8 DATA BACKUP: We do not guarantee data preservation or provide backup services. You are responsible for exporting your data periodically using the CSV export feature if you require backup copies.
12. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
12.1 TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE COMPANY SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP.
12.2 OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF: (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR (B) £50.
12.3 THESE LIMITATIONS APPLY REGARDLESS OF THE THEORY OF LIABILITY.
12.4 SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW LIMITATION OF LIABILITY FOR CERTAIN DAMAGES. IN SUCH CASES, OUR LIABILITY IS LIMITED TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
13. INDEMNIFICATION
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Spatial Split and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from:
- Your use of the App
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any third-party rights
- Content you submit to the App
14. DISPUTE RESOLUTION AND ARBITRATION
14.1 Informal Resolution: Before initiating formal proceedings, you agree to contact us via the App's feedback feature to attempt informal resolution for at least 30 days.
14.2 Binding Arbitration: Any dispute not resolved informally shall be resolved by binding arbitration administered by a recognised arbitration body under its rules. Arbitration shall be conducted in English and held in London, United Kingdom, or remotely at our discretion.
14.3 Class Action Waiver: YOU AND THE COMPANY AGREE THAT EACH MAY BRING CLAIMS AGAINST THE OTHER ONLY IN YOUR INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY AND NOT AS A PLAINTIFF OR CLASS MEMBER IN ANY PURPORTED CLASS OR REPRESENTATIVE PROCEEDING.
14.4 Exceptions: This arbitration agreement does not apply to: (a) claims for injunctive relief, (b) claims within small claims court jurisdiction, or (c) intellectual property disputes.
14.5 Opt-Out: You may opt out of arbitration by sending written notice to us within 30 days of first using the App.
15. MODIFICATIONS
15.1 We may modify these Terms at any time. The "Last Updated" date at the top indicates when changes were made.
15.2 Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.
15.3 If you disagree with changes, you must stop using the App.
16. TERMINATION
16.1 You may terminate your account at any time through the App's Settings.
16.2 We may suspend or terminate your access for violation of these Terms or for any reason with or without notice.
16.3 Upon termination, your licence to use the App ends immediately.
16.4 Upon account deletion, your personal data is deleted immediately. Anonymised expense records are retained for up to 2 years for other users' records, then permanently deleted.
16.5 Sections 6, 9, 11, 12, 13, 14, 17, and 18 survive termination.
17. FORCE MAJEURE
Spatial Connect Limited shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performing our obligations where such failure or delay results from circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to: natural disasters, acts of war or terrorism, pandemics, power outages, internet or telecommunications failures, failures of third-party service providers (including but not limited to Firebase, Google, Apple, or cloud infrastructure providers), government actions, or any other force majeure event. During such events, our obligations shall be suspended for the duration of the event.
18. GENERAL PROVISIONS
18.1 Governing Law: These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
18.2 Severability: If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.
18.3 Entire Agreement: These Terms and the Privacy Policy constitute the entire agreement between you and Spatial Connect Limited.
18.4 Waiver: Our failure to enforce any right does not constitute a waiver of that right.
18.5 Assignment: You may not assign these Terms. We may assign our rights and obligations.
